There’s enough abundance to go around for all of us!
This blog post is about the difference between operating from a place of competition with our peers, versus co-operation. I wrote this specially for the amazing Denise Duffield-Thomas. Denise is a business coach for exceptional women and the author of Lucky Bitch. She helped me to expand in my practice of manifesting abundance with some of her insights and tips. Here is what I wrote after our encounter:
“Hi! It’s so nice to be able to share with you from Denise’s blog! Today I want to share a few revelations that I had lately that have supported me on my journey of living abundantly.
As you may or may not know, I have been coaching people in expanding into an abundant life by connecting to their truth inside. I apply aspects of the Universal Law of Attraction with the Spiritual Principles of Abundance.
A few weeks ago I read Denise’s Lucky Bitch book and I was surprised about how much amazing information was displayed in that sassy blue book! I’ve applied a few things in my life and I saw instant results! I contacted her and thanked her for her awesome book, and we started an ongoing relationship, that eventually led to asking her to coach me in one specific aspect of my life that needed a broader perspective: my business. I was so grateful for having had Denise sharing her expertise with me, even though I work in a very similar field as her!
In one hour, Denise shared with me technical aspects that will take my business to the next level and some philosophical aspects that gave me clarity and peace. I felt calm and empowered after her session!
What got my attention is that Denise knows that I also coach people in manifesting abundance, and she never took that as a threat to her own business. Instead, she opened up, taught me new things, guided me gently, and even invited me to write for her blog! So Voila’, here I am!
Denise understands the core of manifesting abundance, which is:
THERE IS ENOUGH PIE FOR EVERYONE!
I know this in my own heart, and it felt so awesome to find another woman that also supports this vision. It is so different from what I had been experiencing during the last five years of my life.
During those years, I had dedicated myself to surf the biggest waves on the planet, traveling from place to place, chasing big swells.
If you don’t know much about surfing, the sport is a male dominated arena. If you look into the small niche of the modality of big wave surfing, you will be surprised to find a handful of women doing it at a solid level. I was one of them. I was obsessed with overcoming my limits, facing huge challenges and feeling one with nature. All I wanted to do was to surf big waves as much as possible.
The surfing industry is tight and there are few sponsors for the men in big wave surfing, let alone for the women. I am one of very few women in the world that actually gets paid to travel chasing big waves. I worked my butt off to get there, with a discipline that Rocky would have been proud of. I took my career very seriously, (I wish I knew how to have fun with it at the time!) and I was blessed to manifest in my life the dream that I wanted to live: to have the funds to travel all around the world surfing big waves.
There were good times and bad times, as in anything in life. There were AMAZING rides and very dark life-or-death episodes along the way. The sport had a competitive edge that helped me push myself into higher realms, but at the same time it burned me out emotionally.
Fast -forward tree years, the competition got old for me. Fighting for a place in the spotlight got old. I decided to step aside and re-focus in my surfing and my life.
I made the decision to change the way I was operating and chose Spirit instead of my ego mind. I wanted to go back to the basics: surfing for the pure love of it. Not surfing for the fame, the money or the recognition from our peers, but surfing from my heart and my soul.
I am still in this journey and had never felt as free before. Now I have the best of both worlds: an amazing sponsor (Patagonia), that supports me in spreading the joy for the lifestyle of surfing throughout the world, and myself in alignment: surfing without pressure, without competing, or comparing.
Fast forward once again, I am working in the self-development business, growing my company, and meeting amazing women along the way. In the mix, there was Denise. She was open, available, ready to share, standing in her truth. She has taught me a new way that women can support each other. She is rooting for my success.
I am learning that when we are in co-operation with each other, we can move forward at the fastest pace. When we are in competition with each other, we are not trusting in the abundance that is there for us.
I am so grateful for being today in this stage of my life. I am learning from other women entrepreneurs and discovering the joy and sensibility of the feminine power.
Much Loving and Abundance,
Mercedes”
